In 1975 Bio Ag Services Corporation began an insectary to rear and release Galendromous occidentalis and parasitic insects. This predatory mite was used by the founder of Bio Ag Services, Greg Gaffney in his master thesis CSUF in 1975-76 on Almonds. The predator was released in almonds to reduce insecticide. The conclusion was that the impact of the predatory mite decreased in miticides by an average of 60%. In 2010 Bio Ag Services stopped rearing and releasing beneficial insects and now are whole sale distributors for predatory mites, six spotted thrips, lacewings, ladybugs, and trichogramma.
